This article talks about my current tint setup: 50% windshield ceramic, 5% limo ceramic sunroofs, 30% on sides and rear.
Disclaimer
This is not a recommendation – check with your local and state laws before tinting anything. I’m just showing you my setup. Prices are going to vary it really just depends on what you want. In general, tinting the front windshield is the most expensive part.
My main considerations for tint
-
Privacy
-
UV / Sun Protection
-
Styling / Enhance look
Tinted in 2 separate sessions
No real reason why I did this in 2 different sessions, it just happened that way. I got the sides done then windshield and sunroofs shortly after.
Session 1 – Avery, Sides and back windows 30%

Session 2 – SolarFX, Windshield is 50% Ceramic tint. Sunroofs are 5% Limo Ceramic tint.

There’s a good amount of light that still comes into the car so it’s not irritating. I still want to be able to be seen through the front in case I need to hand signal other drivers (for instance at a 4-way stop).

The interior of my car was NOTICABLY cooler after getting the windshield tinted. It offers additional heat/UV protection for my carbon fiber steering wheel. If you need a recommendation for Windshield tinting and you live in San Diego, hit up sd_autofilm on Instagram.
Update Sept 2025 my windshield was replaced
I had to get my windshield replaced, and I haven’t retinted the front windshield since. But It would be nice to do it again.
