Toyota might be known for its rock-solid reliability, but the automaker also issues several recalls a year for various defects. So far in 2026, the Japanese automaker has issued nine recalls affecting 1,024,794 vehicles.
The automaker’s biggest recall is its most recent—550,000 Highlander SUVs with second-row reclining seats that may not properly lock after adjustment. Toyota’s smallest recall isn’t even for a vehicle, but for service replacement parts. The automaker had to recall 79 headlights not designed for the American market that might have been installed on bz4X EVs.
Toyota has issued two other recalls so far this year affecting more than 100,000 vehicles. The 2024-2025 Tundra was recalled for a rearview camera image that may not display, while Toyota recalled nearly 150,000 Prius models for rear doors that may unexpectedly open.
So far this year, Toyota has issued the third-most recalls behind General Motors and Ford Motor Company while splitting the difference on the total number of cars affected. FoMoCo remains the leader with nearly 7.5 million cars recalled through the first three months of the year.
Below are the nine recalls Toyota has issued so far this year (as of April 2, 2026).
