DC Sports CSB1403 front upper strut tower bar brace installation Scion tC

DC Strut tower bar installation 2005-2010 Scion tC
The DC upper front strut tower brace was one of the first suspension upgrades I added to my 2006 first gen Scion tC. This article describes how I installed it. You can find the DC front strut tower bar in various places online. I paid $115 new on eBay. p/n CSB1403 if you want to search for it elsewhere.

Installation was easy

1. Remove the wipers (14mm), Remove the wiper cowl
2. Loosen the three 14mm nuts on each side of the strut tower
3. Install the strut tower brace, torque bolts to 35-38ft lbs.

A few installation tips

The wiper cowl plastic retainers mostly all broke when I removed them for the first time. I replaced them with a set of assorted retainers I found on Amazon. They do the trick.

Extra considerations

This isn’t necessary, but I constantly take the strut tower bar off and on, I want to make more clearance for the back bolt on the driver’s side.   I radius the metal tab with a detail sander so I can access it better the 14mm bolt easier. Not necessary, but I did it.

 Driving impressions
Overall this was one of the biggest improvements for stabilizing turning (aside from lowering my car). The car seemed more responsive on quick maneuvers like avoiding potholes, which we have a lot here. Then on fast hard turns I could really feel the car stick more where as before it would want to drift out.
