  • Leads to unnecesary water, dirt and moisture getting into your door shell.
  • Can cause window rattle and noise while driving
  • Shutting your door, you’ll hear the window glass tap the door shell (its no longer supported by the trim flap)
  • Window rolling up or down won’t be smooth
The stock moldings on my 2006 Scion tC finally gave out, and it was time to replace them. I decided to save money and get the compatible aftermarket replacement moldings from Amazon.

If you want OEM original Toyota replacement here are the links are below. After tax and shipping you’re probably looking at $150.

REMOVAL

It’s a press fit with one plastic tab. It’s probably caked on there and will crack and split as you remove it.
  • No need to remove your door panel or side mirror
  • Roll your window down first
  • Start at the B Piller end (edge by door handle) and pry it up.
  • Continue to peel it up and back until the whole thing is off
  • Clean the edge of the door shell
  • Roll you window UP and clean the base of the window, get all the muck, dirt and debris out now.

INSTALLATION

  • The replacement part is a press fit.
  • Tuck the end closer to the side mirror in first
  • Next align the side close to the B Pillar with the tab
  • Press down across the length of the moulding. You won’t really hear it snap into place, it will just tightly press down until you can’t press any more.
  • That’s it you’re done!
