Engine cover options and variants for the 2AZ-FE 2.4L engine

In this article I’ll talk about a few different engine cover options for the 2AZ-FE 2.4L engine. The Scion tC shares the engine with the Camry, Rav4 and Corolla so any of them will fit, there are some minor differences in the cutouts along the edges and text color variations.

You’ll have to find these on the used market such as eBay or a junkard, except for the JDM and eBay generic Carbon Fiber covers.

Hydro Dipping your engine cover

Hydro dipping your engine cover is a simple way to add custom style to your engine bay without spending big money on aftermarket parts. Also known as water transfer printing, hydro dipping allows you to apply complex patterns—like carbon fiber, camo, or geometric designs—onto plastic engine covers with a factory-quality finish.

The process starts with proper prep. The engine cover should be removed, thoroughly cleaned, and lightly sanded to remove grease and give the surface tooth. A base coat is then applied in a color that complements the hydro dip film. Once the base coat cures, the film is floated on warm water, activated, and the engine cover is slowly dipped through the pattern, allowing it to wrap evenly around the surface.
